Members of the Alpena football team once again, spent time giving back to their community in the form of its annual Vulcan Systems Player of the Game sponsorship donation. In partnership with Doug Field and the team at Vulcan Systems of Oscoda, members of the Alpena High football team earned the Vulcan Systems Player of the Game which was awarded each contest during True North Radio Network live broadcasts on 107.7 The Bay, chosen by the Wildcat football broadcast team of Doc Z and the JT Pepper.

On Tuesday, the Alpena High School varsity football team and Vulcan Systems Donation Coordinator and True North Radio Network Sales Manager Jonny Zawacki, presented a $1,500 check to the Boys and Girls Club of Alpena. The Alpena High School hockey team is coming off an impressive winning weekend at the MIHL Showcase in Trenton, going 2-0 at the state’s biggest high school tournament of the year and the Wildcats seem to be hitting their stride right before the postseason stretch, having won eight of their last nine games.

With an emotional weekend of games upcoming, including Senior Night and their last game at Northern Lights Arena for this season on Friday against Petoskey, followed by the regular season finale at Traverse City West on Saturday, the Wildcat hockey team still made time to give back to their community by welcoming members from the Boys and Girls Club to Northern Lights Arena for the program’s annual open skate and $1,000 check presentation to the Boys and Girls Club of Alpena in partnership with Vulcan System’s continued sponsorship of the “Player of the Game” during all of True North Radio Network’s live Alpena Wildcat hockey broadcasts on 107.7 The Bay.  FULL STORY HERE

The 2023 football season wrapped up over a week ago for the Alpena High School Wildcat football team, but on Wednesday, the Wildcats had one final play to make, this time, off the field.

For the fourth consecutive year, head coach Eric Mitchell and his Alpena football made its annual “Player of the Game” donation to the Alpena Boys & Girls Club.

Each year, Doug Field and the team at Vulcan Systems proudly partner with True North Radio Network to be one of many sponsors to make Alpena High School football live broadcasts on 107.7 The Bay possible.

At the end of each game, the Wildcat broadcast team of Doc Z and JT Pepper select a “Player of the Game” sponsored by Vulcan Systems and a check is donated at seasons end to those Wildcat players of the game throughout the football season.

Each year, the Wildcats turn around and donate the Player of the Game check to the Alpena Boys & Girls Club, while spending time with club members.

“Our Alpena athletes have been fortunate enough to spend a lot of time here and it was awesome to be able to have a new building to work on skills, interact with each other and this entire partnership is great,” Mitchell said. “Having the Boys and Girls Club is so important for our community. It’s been rewarding watching some of these same Club members come up through the Jets program and it’s definitely helped our numbers grow from where they have been. These kids here look up to these athletes and we are so blessed to have the opportunity to be here today and help better a special organization that is so important in our community.”
